The Climate Summit (COP28) concluded this week with an agreement to move away from the use of fossil fuels. However, we need to reduce emissions by 43% by 2030 to keep the planet’s global warming at 1.5 degrees. Emission reductions should be complete by 2050. This is why the use of technologies that help mitigate climate change is gaining increasing interest.
Spain has jumped on this bandwagon, with several companies developing solutions for one of the most polluting sectors, such as road transport. Among these companies is Eco Eolic Top System, a finalist in the NTT DATA FOUNDATION eAwards Spain 2022.
In 2016, Abdon Estefan, founder and CEO, and Mauricio Vargas Machado, founder and CTO of Eco Eolic Top System, developed the Run&Save device, a patented and unique technology of Spanish origin, which uses the principle of lift employed in aeronautics.
This device is placed on top of vehicles, channels the air coming from the front when the vehicle is in motion, and generates a lift effect that improves the vehicle’s aerodynamics by lightening the weight of the load.
